Official support web site for the CB40/A/C Project and FAQ

This is a great project we are now the official support group for the CB40/A/C project.

Next month will be the official launch of this great CB Radio project, and soon after the CB40A.

Also being designed now is the CB40C, this is a upgrade for all 23 channel Crystal SSB radios so they will have 40 channels and a screen and all the same features as the CB40.

CB40 / CB40 Project build
« on: October 03, 2018, 09:25:31 PM »
40 channel upgrade the CB40 project

Yes this is a upgrade for most 18ch radios am or SSB, from 02A, 858, 861, MB8719 PLL radios.

the idea is to build an alternative to the 18ch radios with people wanting 40ch, and added scan also, and will be easy to install.

Using an Arduino Pro Mini, and a custom board , a small OLED screen and a encoder, using custom programming, the programming file will not be given out to anyone.

The display shows Frequency and channel, the display as you can see in the 2nd photo is white, so it should come out well in radios that have colored tinted display windows.

this is for 40 channels only with scan, this will not have extra channels in it, if your want extra channels you can use the digimax from mac.

here are 2 photos of it one is in a 02A Phillips AM radio

This one shows the size of the OLED screen up against the 2x 7 segment  led readouts.

the cost is hoping to be as cheap as the original 40 channel switches used to be at DSE back in the 80s and 90s around the $25 mark.

Once i have more photos and info i will update this thread.

For Sale / Rules for posting in the for sale section
« on: April 11, 2018, 03:00:04 PM »
Here are a few rules that you need to read and abide by.

1st: No bad dealings, no scams, don't rip people off & treat people with the same respect  you would like to be treated.

2nd: please keep all personal information in messages, not in the group. like addresses, phone numbers. etc.

3rd: don't start trouble in the group, name calling or Abuse towards other group members (1 warning 2nd time banned from group).

4th: no spaming other Facebook groups or web sites to gain members from this group (no warning instant kick and permanent ban).

When placing adverts please follow a few simple rules.

1: Photo, you must post an actual photo of the item, no copy’s from google

2: LOCATION not everyone is in your area.

3: PRICE you must specify a price, (no posting OFFER has to be a price or swap or free or price with ONO)

4: Put as much information as possible about the item, condition etc,

5: State if your willing to post or pick up or both

6: No posting links to other groups, no ebay links, no gumtree links or links alike

if you can't follow simple rules & if you fail to update with the detail it will be deleted.

##########################Take NOTE ############################

1 - As the buyer: Do you have proof of purchase. eg Paypal or Bank transfer.

2 - As the seller: Do you have proof that you sent the item? eg Registered Post or Express post tracking

3 - As the buyer: The moment you receive the item, check it.It is buyer beware. Make sure that the item meets the description. If an item is listed as functional, then you expect it to work. However, if the seller fails to mention something, then you as the buyer wears it. Like a button not working properly.

4 - If you ask the seller specific questions before you buy the item. The seller cannot lie, but he does not have to tell you the truth. You should take this into consideration and document all your messages.Sold "as is" means just that. Assume it isn't working. ( I often sell items "as is" and say they are not working even if they are because I don't want to verify stupid trivial shit to petty buyers. )

5 - As a seller: put postal insurance on things you sell and don't tell the buyer you have done so. If they claim something was damaged in the post, then they need to provide evidence of it. If they get narky, tell them you took out postal insurance and they need evidence to make the claim.

6 - As the buyer; If there is a serious problem, then take a photo or a video straight away and send the seller a message asking them if they are aware of it. Do not be shocked that they should think you are trying to scam them. Work with them to find a resolution. Unless it's a clear case of fraud, you have no leg to stand on.

7 - If you are swapping items, use registered post with a signature and insure the item.If the item you swapped does not appear, then ask for proof that it was sent. If you do not get a satisfactory response, then ring their local police station and make a complaint. Make sure you have the evidence of the transaction and communication with the other person. If the police fob you off, ask who you're speaking to (get their name and note the time and date) and ask if they mind if you speak to your local police to confirm what they said. Lazy policing is common, so sometimes you have to encourage them a little.

If nothing else the person will only be scamming me, it will not look good if he does it in the future. This is the reason why you should report even trivial examples to the police because petty criminals rely on the police being lazy and nobody reporting them.

Everything needs objective documented evidence.

##########################Take NOTE ############################

All sales are at your own risk, there are buyers and sellers only too willing to 'rip you off' always pay where you can get a refund should problems arise, Paypal offers buyer protection, also post items securely and tracked/signed for, too many people like to 'try it on' for a free item. and of course use common sense, do some homework, check the seller/buyer, ask other members for a recommendation.

If you have a radio that goes out of band or has a slide or higher power than allowed its your call. (ACMA are in all cb and ham groups they use them as a tool to bust people)

Best thing to do if you post a photo of your radio, just make sure that its in band before you take the photo. Ie on a cb channel and not showing you outside the 40 or in-between channels, this isn’t a rule just advice and commonsense..
